Iowa Veterinary Specialties provides a wide range of surgical services should surgery be necessary, including emergency surgery when needed. Below is a list of surgeries that can be provided. Neurosurgery: Surgery for intervertebral disc disease (“ruptured disc” in the back), lumbosacral disorders, spinal fractures, intracranial tumors, and cervical vertebral disorders. Arthroscopy: This diagnostic procedure is done with an endoscope which has a fiberoptic tip on it to examine the interior of a joint. This is a minimally invasive diagnosis for the treatment of elbow dysplasia, osteochondritis dissecans (OCD) lesions of the hip and knee, etc.
Reconstructive Surgery: Cosmetic and functional restoration following traumatic or surgical events necessitating skin flap, skin graft or muscular graft transposition. TPLO: (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy) commonly used to correct cranial cruciate ligament disease or rupture. This is a state-of-the-art surgical procedure that allows the most near-normal biomechanical return to function with the least amount of ongoing degenerative joint changes. Dr. Reimer has vast skill and success in performing over 200 TPLO procedures. Related Articles
