Iowa Veterinary Specialties is a full- service, emergency and specialty hospital providing emergency, surgery, and internal medicine services.

We do not provide preventive or routine services. Preventitive and routine care is provided by your daytime/ referring veterinarian.

For emergency visits, if you are able to call to alert us, please do so as it allows us to prepare for your pet's arrival.

Surgeries and intenal medicine visits may be scheduled through your day-time veterinarian.

We treat dogs, cats, and pocket pets (small mammals such as rabbit and gerbils). We do not treat reptiles, amphibians, large (farm) animals, or wild animals.

All patients are seen on a triage basis (most serious cases first).

We are forbidden by law to dispense or prescribe medication without performing a physical exam.

Intial emergency visits are $75 ($100 after midnight) and estimates will be provided after that point by the treating doctor.

We require payment at time of service.We accept cash, check,Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, debit card, and CareCredit(See Below).

You can use your CareCredit card for both your pet's current and future treatment needs, leaving your other major cards available for household or unplanned expenses. Ask the technician for a CareCredit application. Applications can be processed only during CareCredit's business hours: Monday through Saturday 7am to 11pm, and Sunday 11am to 5pm. We offer the 3-month, no interest plan or the 24 to 60 month with interest plan.
